02 Mar Javed Afridi donates USD 10,000 for Darren Sammy Foundation
Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy pulled of a blinder Thursday night, after he took his side to win against Quetta Gladiators at Sharjah. Making the victory much sweeter was the fact that it came from the bat of an injured but undeterred skipper.
“Today I played with all my heart, because my heart is with Peshawar Zalmi. Our life and death is one. I will be standing with them till my last breath,” Sammy said in an emotional message in Pashto on social media.
“I just needed to hit three sixes and that’s what I told the coach,” Sammy said in the post match presentation, after he was awarded the Man of the Match award for his brilliant innings.
“Even if you hobble it’s OK, just get a six. I just went out there thinking I could hit three sixes and win the match. I backed myself and I did the job that the team needed,” Sammy added.
The Peshawar Zalmis owner Javed Afridi announced US$ 10,000 donation to the Daren Sammy Foundation, after an inspirational knock by the Zalmis skipper.
“I am pleased to announce a USD 10,000 donation to the Daren Sammy Foundation from @pzfoundation. Our skipper is working for a very generous cause and we will do everything to help him. More power to you, @darensammy88,” stated Afridi.
